What were the best Television shows of 2k9? (Not qualified 2 write this post bc I don't have a TV).

I saw some alt with a mural of the cast of The Simpsons on his skin, in the art form of tattooification. It seemed like a bold statement, because your skin is an accessory that will be with you forever. The decision to let people know 'I chill in front of the TV' might not be a good one, since we don't know if 'the TV' will even be around in 5-10 years. Now that sites like youtube, hulu, funnieanddying.com, and collegehumorbrovideos.edu exist, many content creators exist on the internet, creating viral videos that no longer allow us to grow/live/love/learn with a cast of fictional characters.

I wonder what cast would be the altest skin mural to get. Maybe 'Family Guys', or perhaps 'The Office Staff (Ft Jim & Pam & the 40 Year old Virg).' Possibly a tattoo of Tim Allen from 'Home Improvement' or the Banks family from Fresh Prince of BelAir. Worried that too many 'dumb ppl pretending 2 be smart' are into SouthPark/the Daily Colbert Show franchise. Really need a skin mural so that I can finish my tat sleeve.

What was 'the best television show of 2k9'? Are there 'new shows', or are people just into glorifying old franchises? Wonder if tv shows have to 'get better' or if tv watching is such a loafcentric process that consumers don't really demand that much from TV. We sorta just need a 'cast of characters' that we can find identifiable for a 2 year gateway period, then we can sort of 'lean on them' to be there for us over time, even if the show just perpetuates existing gimmicks + 1dimensional characters. Wish we expected as much out of TV as we do out of bands.

What were the buzzworthy television shows in 2k9?

How about that Office spinoff show that 'failed/tanked'? Probs had to do with the fact that they selected a terrible female lead, born from the over-adoration of 80% of modern post-SaturdayNightLive personalities.

Wonder if 'SNL' is still relevant? Seems like a lot of ppl still watch it/talk about it on the internet. Not sure if that is directly related to a 'better product.'

Not sure if alternative demographics have a TV show to turn to. What is the deal with 'Gossip Girl'? I have heard it portrays alt kids/rich kids, and sometimes they use soft porn 2 get viewers.

Does n e 1 know what the deal with the show 'The Mad Men' is? From what I understand, it is some sort of reality show set in the 1960s, tying in real events with a quirky cast. Have heard that 'critics/bloggers' 'absolutely love' the show. Wonder if it is legitimately good, or just internet-hype 'good'/overrated.

'The Sun is Always Shining in Philadelphia' also seems to have a rabid fan base of ppl who buy complete seasons of DVDs. Not really into Danny DeVito as a comedic actor.

Miss being a kid/tween, back when there were shows that directly appealed to me.

Maybe I should focus on watching shows that are meant to showcase a fascinating/sad segment of humans. Wonder if MTV's 'Jersey Shore' is the future of television [via the National+Natural obsession with Guidos].

Need a cast of characters
That I can grow with
enjoying their lives'
until the show ends
and I feel dissatisfied with the conclusion of the show
(Will I feel just as dissatisfied with the conclusion of my own life

Ross & Rachel getting married/having a baby
Vincent Chase and his bros masturbating on Entourage
Bart Simpson/cartoon character 'getting in2 troub & learning abt life'
Will Smith fighting aliens in The Fresh Prince

TV seems fun & comfortable
learning abt life
while staring at the screen
instead of chilling on social networks
living life, interacting and chatting
while staring at the screen

Wonder if TV on the Radio
will rename their band
'Internet on the TV'

Not sure if 'Television' is a sustainable industry
Might just start a company that produces viral vids
and gets paid per millions of views

What is ur fave TV show?
Do u buy complete seasons of shows on DVD, or just stream them on ur compie?
Is the best TV Show better than the best movie?
Is the best blog better than the best TV show?
Do u wish the internet didn't exist?

Analysis of Bro Comedy

http://www.hipsterrunoff.com/2009/02/bro-comedy-in-2009.html

Thinking about writing a pilot for a new television show.

Yall. As u know, I am a very creative person. I am thinking about writing a television show. Please give me feedback about my ideas.

Think that I am going to cast two bros as the lead bros.

Photos via histiley

Bro #2 also seems chill.

Think that there are a lot of different directions 2 go in.

Might decide to cast a woman and have the bros be entrepreneurs.

Might make the sitcom about teen issues.

Might make the sitcom more of a 'teledrama' about dead bros in the alt scene and crimes and shit like that.

Might make the bros mutilate themselves' and film it. Will make them do shit like 'cut their peens in half' and other stuff that the Bam Margera/Johnathan Knoxville/Verne 'Wee Man' Troyer did.

Might import a funnie show from Britain and do my best to Americanize it so that it is 'critically acclaimed' even though it is empty.

Thinking about writing some sort of tween mystery show to get an authentic following of tweens who are both smart and lonely/not allowed 2 have BFs/GFs [via the Twilight audience]

Might make it a snarkie social commentary cartoon for adults only.

Might have an ensemble cast of alt people living life in a meaningful city.

Might name one of the bros in my sitcom 'seinbro' and have him get

Feel like maybe a reality show would work. might include 'fighting and death.' I have read articles that cagefighting is the new sport that people are into since 79% people only watch sports to watch ppl 'get severely injured.'

Do yall have any ideas for a good sitcom about alternative people in our modern world? Sometimes I feel like I can't come up with ideas that are original. Just feel so influenced by images from my youth. Wonder if I will ever create something that is totally my own, and not influenced by anything else.

Feel free to pitch some ideas in the comments section of this post, and I will relay your ideas to people I know within the industry. What types of characters + themes + plot + setting are necessary for the modern show that realistically portrays alternative ppl? Or is this show already on television [via GossipGirl/Skins/TheApprentice]?

HIPSTER RUNOFF TV: Coming soon???

As yall know, I am creative, I 'get' the internet, and I am interested in tween issues, which made it pretty natural to write a sitcom that dealt with these three topics. Needless to say, I'm super excited, and hope that my show catches on with test audiences. Do you think yall could give me some feedback if it is good enough for yall?

Show description: A Girl from Wisconsin created a youtube account, created videos, and 'went viral.' She was then recruited to star on a zany tween sketch comedy show called SO RANDOM. Her life changed, but she is still humble, and zany things happen around her with zany characters. While she has some zany conflicts with people who might be more/less 'viral' and quirky than her, she is sort of searching for meaning + special relationships, just like every1 else in our world.

</embed>

Which character do yall 'relate 2'?
Do u think it is a 'good concept'?
Do u have any tween actors who yall could recommend?

Do yall think it has a chance to 'catch on' with tweens? I feel like the problem with most television 2day is that the people who write tv shows don't 'get' what happens in the modern world. They don't understand vlogging, and they don't understand youtube sensations. Just feel like this show has a better chance of resonating with tweens as opposed to outdated sitcoms like Seinfeld, Frasier, and Every Body Loves Raymond and H8s Chris.

Just interested in educating America's youth about concepts like 'microfame' and'macroanonymity' which have shattered most tweens' concepts of 'what it means to be successful' [via 'being famous'].

Will HRO 'make it' and launch the career of this new tween sensation? (kinda like Miley/Trace Cyrus)

Seen n e good seasons of TV shows on DVD lately?

Usually, television sitcoms on major networks are for 'insecure people who feel like they need to be a part of something'/people who should be using their time more effectively to better/worsen themselves. Dedicating yourself to an hour of programming doesn't make your life any better or any worse. You are a better person if you do meth instead of watching "LOST" because you are committed to self-destruction. N

o matter how alt you think a sitcom is, or how progressive the comedy/'mise en scene' of the show is, u r not progressive for consuming it.
Seasons of DVDs are for lame groups of friends who 'like 2 stay in' on the weekends/are the 'sad kind of pot head' if you hang out with them for more than 2 hours.

N e ways...should I buy this DVD to watch with a close group of my mildly overweight girlfriend fag hags/insecure, mildly-alt FGGTS who drink box wine & gorge themselves on unhealthy desserts?

But srsly...how do u feel about 'people who get into tv shows'?
Entourage? The Wire? It's Always Sunnie in Phillie? The Office? 90210 2.0? Gossip Girl?
I feel like if you are a true internetBro, watching TV is a HUGE waste of time. I believe in free will, yall. Freedom 2 control the content/memes that are inserted in2 my brain.

Chuck Is Going to be a Huge Pile of Shit

Any one see the ads when you log into myspace lately? They are for CHUCK, which is billed as a thriller/comedy series coming to NBC. I usually won't blog about anything in TV or the movies unless it looks like it is going to suck really hard. Watch this 3 minute trailer.

If you didn't watch it, then you wouldn't have picked up the whole vibe of wanting to create Scrubs Pt 2 with Zach Braff personality meets brotherly camraderie of 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' meets Alias meets pop culture referential humor with stuff like Vicki Vail song or Geek Squad rip off.

Anyways, it looks terrible. TERRIBLE.
I hate shows like 'Chuck.' I hope people don't watch it, then I will hate it when it is syndicated on your local WB affiliate and Comedy Central every day until the dude who plays Chuck makes an indie film that speaks to an entire Generation.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hate Scrubs and Garden State, and any one who is HIP should, too.
Don't you hate it when network executives greenlight something 'a little bit different than what's on TV right now'?

Some guy on the TV show "Breaking Bad" wears a Steve Aoki t-shirt
Photo via Jonathan Makeup

Steve Aoki is a bangerwave electro dubstep DJ who is arguable one of the most famous alt-based DJs in the world. "Breaking Bad" is the show abt some duded who is dying, and every1 says it is the best show ever, but as yall know, ppl who are really in2 tv shows are kinda like high-end lamestreamers.

Anyways, some character in Breaking Bad named Jesse Pinkman was wearing a Steve Aoki shirt, probably just trying to demonstrate that he liked to go to Los Angeles-area raves, get totally effed up on pills, then end up in the hospital [via dehydration], all while enjoying the thick beats of a long-haired AZN man. I looked at the wikipedia for 'Jesse Pinkman', and he is actually a meth manufacturer. Seems like a chill job that allows u 2 be ur own boss, merging interesting aspects of entrepreneurship and chemistry.

R u one of those ppl who sits around watching AMC dramas all nite, tweeting abt how AMAZEBALLS they are?

Do u watch 'BREAKING BAD'?
Do u own an Aoki t-shirt?
Would u be 'caught dead' in a Steve Aoki t-shirt?
Is this a relevant show?
Is this a relevant character, or is he an entry level electro bro?
Do u wish he was wearing a Skrillex shirt? #PrinceOfDubstep

Zooey Deschanel strips nude in the trailer for her new FOX sitcom
</embed>

Zooey Deschanel's new show "NEW GIRL" got 'greenlighted' by FOX, so we get to see her 'attempt comedy acting.' I don't know if she really has any value, except for staring into the camera with blue eyes and 'looking indie' and having a froggy voice, so unless she strips nude and 'gets her fuck on' [via HBO/Showtime], I don't think this comedy is going to last. Seems to be trying to be a 'bro comedy.' It's always sunny in the office parks and rec Bronteourage.

Anyways, she 'kinda gets naked' in this trailer, offering her body to her ex-mate. Really wish she would get NUDE on camera. Really want to know 'what kind of nips' that she has.

U can't help but wonder... Do the curtains match the sheets?

Do the eyes match the ________? [via blue eyes]

Here is some interview where she says that her new show is 'the modern Mary Tyler Moore'
</embed>
Do u think Zooey Deschanel even really cares abt this show, or is she just hoping that it stays around long enough to get syndicated so that she can make $$$ forever?
I wonder if Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel's impending breakup is going to be 'ordinary'

Does this show look 'funnie' or is it destined 2 fail?

Chill Los Angeles Altbag bro gets MTV pilot called “How To Be Tight.”
</embed>

Don't own a TV, but I like to 'catch up on what is relevant' by watching youtube, hulu, and vimeo.org. I recently saw that MTV started another zany show called "How to be Tight." I think it is supposed to be some sort of mix of Jackass, MADE, Jersey Shore, Real World, The Hills, Singled Out, True Life, and Undressed. Really dig MTV programming because I feel like it 'really defines our generation' and gives us an amazing perspective to look in2 the real issues of young people: partying, drugs, and teens getting pregnant.

Do u think "How To Be Tight" will 'catch on' and get picked up for season 2?

The show revolves around a bro name Chazz who 'kills it.' Seems to be a spoiled, yet bad ass, rich LA post-hipster bro dude. He basically cruises around town, picks up babes, does sweet stuff. In episode 2, he tries to get a record deal by working with a sweet DJ/producer. Just a pretty chill bro who 'kills it' / 'sleighs' all the g-d time.

</embed>

Really want to go to LA and 'chase my dreams.' Just wanna live on the golden coast/best coast. Feel like if every1 is like this, I will 'feel right at home' like a bro in a sea of authentic bros.

Do u think Chazz seems like a chill bro? Feel like it was a 'grower', but the show 'came into its own' during Episode 3.

</embed>

Do yall h8 secret Weezer youtube plugs?
Do u think he did a great job as a journalist interviewing Weezer?
Does Weezer deserve 'more respect'?

Do u think Chazz 'looks like James Murphy?

Do u want to know how 2 be tight?
Do yall h8 LA bros?
Is MTV 'killing it' with their new programs?
Do u want to give Chazz bro a handjob?
Do u know how I can be tighter?
Do u h8 'groups of bros' who make 'web shorts'?
Does Chazz know how to ride chillwaves, or is he 'too mainstream'?

Conan O’Brien starts buzzband 2 try 2 be ‘relevant’ with young adults again.

Conan O'Brien is a popular television personality from right before the internet took over the way 'young adults' consumed media. He was popular with an 'emerging demographic', so NBC 'mortgaged' their future by promising him a prime late night slot, then young ppl stopped watching TV, old ppl kept watching TV, and Jay Leno was 'more relevant' [via TV ratings] than Conan Obby. N e ways, some shit went down and Conan got fired, but young adults on the internet were all pissed, even though they never bothered to watch his show.

It seems like Conan O'Brien is trying to 'get back into the young adult' markets by trying to release a buzzworthy CD. Not even sure if I 'care.' Kinda over his brand. Honestly makes me feel old. Might get into a younger, hipper youtube-based personality like Tosh O or something. Just want some1 who watches the same web clips I do, instead of trying to be a 'standup comedian.'

r u gonna buy Conan's buzz CD, or is Conan officially a Cool Dad product?

We knew that a live album wasn’t the only recording Jack White and Conan O’Brien put to tape back in June, and now the latest release from Team Coco-White has been unveiled: “And They Call Me Mad?,” an “improvised take on the Frankenstein legend” by the former Tonight Show/Late Night host, is now available for pre-order at Third Man Records and will ship out next week.

Did the young adults of the 1990s turn into cool dads at a rapid pace?

Will Conan O'Brien's new buzz CD be reviewed by Pitchfork?
Will he release some new mp3s that can 'save' 2k10?
Will Conan O'Brien 'bomb' on TBS?
Is being on TBS 'insanely shameful' [via Very Funny, yall]?
Will George Lopez pull in way more Mexi ratings than Connon?
Should Conan O'Brien retire so he can preserve the legacy of his brand, instead of growing old in2 the unfunny, irrelevant comedian who he h8s?
Were yall on #TeamCoCo, #TeamLeno, or #Busy_on_the_internet, yall--don't_watch~tv...eff_h8rs ?
Do u feel like 'tastemaking internet audiences' should control what is shown on TV, even though they don't watch TV?
Should they show Mad Men on network TV so that it will get canceled and 'smart ppl/tastemakers on the internet' will stop talking abt it?

Napoleon Dynamite Cartoon Show coming to FOX. Will it ‘flop’?

Napoleon Dynamite is a popular comedy from the year 2004. It featured a borderline retarded high school student who became friends with a Mexican bro, then helped him become the first latino President of the United States of America [via the "Vote for Pedro Campaign"]. Because of the 'sympathy' you felt for the 'mentally and socially challenged' in this picture, it was branded as a comedy,

Fox is developing an animated series based on the 2004 movie "Napoleon Dynamite," the network confirmed.

Napoleon Much of the original cast is on board for the TV version, including Jon Heder and Efran Ramirez, along with filmmakers Jared and Jerusha Hess. Clearly if Fox greenlights the project, it will be destined for its Sunday lineup.

It seems like there is a whole new market for 'adults who never grew up' so they still watch cutting edge cartoons on the Cartoon Network, South Park, Family Guy, and maybe even the Simpsons Family of Yellow Ppl.

Was Nappy Dynamite even 'that' funny, or just quirky, hollow bullshit for mainstreamers trying to be alt?
Wonder if Nappy Dynamite will be 'successful' as a cartoon, or if they should have it preserved as a 'cult indie comedy classic'?
Will the Napoleon Dynamite cartoon ruin their 'brand' or will it just end up selling more Vote for Pedro tshirts at Hot Topic?
If u went to HS with Nappy D, would u vote for Pedro, or would you make sure every1 elected was white?
Did Pedro's election in the film 'open the door' for the real life election of fellow minority Barrack Obama?

Do u feel like this is a lifeline for 'Efran Ramirez' since he probably couldn't get any work besides 'playing a Mexi who talked like a stereotypical Chicano'?
Does n e 1 know what type of special needs Napoleon Dynamite had?
Are people who were 'way into Nappy Dyny' losers who 'didn't understand comedy'?
Does n e 1 know what kind of people still watch cartoons? Kids?

Do tweens just watch the Disney channel and MTV now?
Are cartoons just for adults who 'never grew up' and are sort of sad people with pseudo-jobs, but not a 'real career'? [via the 17-38 year old bros who work at your local Game Stop/Costco/Wal Mart and either live with their parents or in some sad apartment complex and eat microwavable food]
Do u wish u could go back in time to when u were one of the first people to see Napoleon Dynamite in 'limited release'?
What's ur fave Nappy Dynamite quote?

Curb Your Enthusiasm Porn Parody
</embed>

From what I understand, it is important for porn studios to make parodies of popular tv series and movies in order to keep their brands relevant. It is a good way to inspire mainstream blog coverage of their studio production company, since you can't just advertise for porn in traditional ways. It seems like this porn parody of Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" was targeted at intelligent comedy consumers who still like to masturbate while watching zany pornography.

Do people who watch Curb Your Enthusiasm watch a lot of porn?
Does Larry David make u hornie?
Is the acting in 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' just as shitty as porn acting?
Do u think the plot lines in this porn parody are as 'genius' / 'absurd' as a Seinfeld / Curb plot?
Are you so alt that u just call the show 'Curb'?

Do u watch porn?
Do u watch Curb Your Enthusiasm?
Who is the best character? The zany black guy?
Was Larry David funnier/more important to the success of Seinfeld than Jerry Seinfeld?

Would u rather jerk off to an Office porn parody?

</embed>

Might just watch a parody of 'Friends'

</embed>

What porn parody do u want 2 watch?
What is the best television series of all time?
If you could watch a porn parody of a buzzband, which buzzband would you pick?

Unconfirmed Rumor: Conan O'Brien and George Lopez will write late nite TBS sitcom 2gether

According to the internet, TBS has given Conan O'Brien a lucrative contract to become a part of their company. After being fired from NBC for not being funny enough/acquiring viewers, he got a lot of 'blog buzz' since tons of ppl were really into him before the internet existed. For some reason, he still wants to be a 'late night talk show host' instead of doing something more relevant/something that fits in with our modern society+modern channels of modern humor.

I am not sure if this TBS sitcom news is true, but just searched for info about it on twitter. If I had to guess, their sitcom is probably about a Mexican man and a White Man who are dealing with growing old together. There will be funny moments, but also serious moments. They own a pizza joint burrito coffee shop, and have tons of silly stuff happen to them. I am not sure if there will also be a talk show integrated into the sitcom, or if it will just be like The Office or something.

Do u think this investment is worth it?
Do u think Late Night TV is 'done'?
Will Conan O'Brien battle for alt buzzbands with Jimmy Fallon to try to get 'blog buzz'?
Will Conan hire Diplo as his 'house band' to combat the Roots?
Does TBS hate Mexicans?
Will Mexicans stay up late to watch George Lopez?
Is Conan going to 'tank' on TBS?
Why do people still want Late Night variety shows 2 be relevant?
Do people really have time to watch 1 hour of commercials / celebrities trying to promote their most recent movies + some lame band?
Is Jay Leno going to 'crush' Conan O'Brien?
Is being on 'Team CoCo' overrated?
Is NBC in 'the shitter' since Michael Phelps retired from the Olympics and won't star on 'The Office'?
Should Conan have taken a development deal with ________?

Do u 'give a shit' abt late night TV?
