I gotta be honest, I am not really that into dubstep, I am basically just 'reacting' to it invading the mainstream indiesphere. Artists like James Blake, Jamie xx, Thommy York, and Skrillex are trying to go 'dubstream', but at the same time, there are probably tons of other totally authentic underground dubstep artists like burial, and the tranny bro in this video, hyping up her new single that is totally hot!
I am sorta interested in the future of the dubstep aesthetic. Figuring out who will ultimately 'own' the genre, who will be remembered as the #1 dubstepper of all time? Is it an authentic genre, or just a 'flavor of the week' aesthetic that Britney Spears utilized and then tons of lamestreamer Middle Americans tried too hard to be like, "I'm totally gonna pump this out of my car stereo."
Really into this dubstep tranny's dubstep single 'dropping' on iTunes. It gives me hope that instead of starting a chillwave lofi buzzband, I can just hire a random ass electro bro producer and then sing nasty lyrics over it with really dark vocal effects. Is it time to become an authentic dubstepper, or is this trend totally lamestream now?
Srsly though....What kind of ppl are in2 dubstep?
a) electro bros
b) altbros
c) UK bros
d) tweens
e) tranny bros
f) tranny broads
g) lamestreamers
h) mainstreamers
i) post-chillwavers
j) Hot Topic tweens
k) buff dude bros who partie hard
l) Pitchfork-wave music critic bros
m) ppl who read NME
n) ppl who hang out on mssg boards and talk abt music
o) ppl who don't listen to internet music
p) ppl who used to listen to Linkin Park
q) Britney Spears fans
r) ppl who think Radiohead is the best band in the world
s) Bros are are still into the whole Banksy/Burial anonymous aesthetic
t) Ppl who drink Mountain Dew
u) Ppl who used to be into Taking Back Sunday
v) Bros who wear cologne
w) Bros who want vagines and bosoms
x) Bros who own headphones that cost over $300
y) Ppl who play violent video games
z) Choose.Ur.Own.Response
Is dubstep 'relevant' or just a 'BS electro fad'?
WTF is 'dubstep'?
Who invented dubstep?
Does the Tranny Bro's dubstep single seem amazing?
Please share any info abt dubbystepp that u have in the comments section of this post.
I was looking at a popular gossip weblog, and I saw pix of the lead singer of the most mainstream authentic popular band, The Radiohead. I haven't listened 2 much RadioBrain, but I am not sure what they are doing 'being covered' by a mainstream Gossip Weblog. I guess they aren't as 'alternative' as I once thought they were.
I am an alone bro
sitting at the beach
writing songs like 'Kid A' and 'Pablo Honey'
in my head
being chased by the Karma Police
The waves crash over me
like an Incubus song
except with more electronic elements
and I wail over the tunes
talking about important political stuff about live and the environment
and society with zany song titles
I live in a different world
than the commonfolk
but sometimes do the same simple things
that they do
to get inspired
and write a new album
2 give away for free
'on the internet'
Feel sad that I couldn't go on a family vacay and accidentally run into Thom at the beach. Seems like a chill bro.
Still confused that this indie band is being covered by paparazzi. h8 the modern world
I think this is supposed to be from one of the Radiohead.tv webcasts. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzWEukEihYE&rel=1] He plays some M.I.A., but I really just wish this 10 minute DJ set was all about taking the listener to BANGERVILLE.
I wonder if this performance of "ANY ONE CAN PLAY GUITAR" live from the MTV Beach House will be on Radiohead.tv. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXUBE_wiPtU&rel=1] Thom Yorke's old hair is better than Thom Yorke's new hair.
At least we got to see Thom York jimmy jangle some maracas. Otherwise, a total snoozefest.
Really boring performances that didn't translate to TV at all. Sure, they are accomplished, but u can tell that their heads are so far up their own asses that there is no way they will ever make another album that isn't more than 'branded noises'. We're witnessing the death of what are supposed 2 be 'legends', but I could find 100 myspace bands who could poop out these noises in their sleep.
Apparently, being a dubstep DJ is 'totally hot' right now, which explains why Thom Yorke is doing his best to distance himself from Radiohead's latest flop album, and trying his best to get some cred in the dubstep scene. It seems like he is just throwing down some DJ sets in underground locations, then some1 random takes lofi pictures of him and he comes across as 'more authentic.'
I have never really been in2 Thommy or Radiohead, so I don't 'get' what the appeal is, but I think this is just like the same as that time when Coldplay's Chris Martin married GOOP blogger Gwyneth Paltrow to 'go more mainstream.'
Here is some video of him DJing, and tons of dubstep fans being all like "whoooa dubbysteppy! yay! Radiohead guy!"
As u can see, he takes his job seriously. He rolled up his sleeves, showed off his guns, and got 2 work.
Can Thom Yorke make it as a dubstep legend?
Can he top the Prince of Dubstep James Blake/Skrillex/Jamie xx?
Do u 'get' dubstep?
Do u miss Radioheads?
Should Thom Yorke invent a new kind of music called Thomwave?
Thom Yorke is the lead singer of Radiohead, but I think he has accepted that their band's career is sorta 'swirling down the pooper', and no1 is really THAT interested in listening to over-branded abstract music that doesn't even mean anything and just 'sounds kewl' 2 do while ur on entry-level drugs. Anyways, Thom is doing his best to 'break thru' into the emerging dubstep DJ circuit scene. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a rabid fan base like Skrillex, who is widely considered the #1 DJ in the world right now.
It looks like he threw down some SWEET VOX too.
Here is some video of him singing.
Also bronoodled with some dude who we can all assume is a 'legend in the dubstep' community.
Can Thom Yorke 'rebrand' as a dubstep DJ?
Is he sorta like 'the Panda Bear of Radiohead'?
Is he sorta like 'the Avey Tare of Radiohead'?
Is dubstep 'hot right now'?
Is Thom Yorke the artsiest artsy fartsy bro in the world?
Thom Yorke was spotted selling newspapers somewhere in London. At first I thought he was out of money, so he had to get a second job selling newspapers to ppl who are on their way 2 work. But then it turns out Radiohead released some gimmicky newspaper as part of their flop album release. I was sorta hoping that Thommy was 'tired of making conceptual dubstep rock music' and was trying out a new career line. It must be difficult 2 be a musician, just seems like you'd get tired of it after a while.
Here is a lamestreamer fan buying a newspaper and asking Thom to 'take a picture with her' bc he is a mainstream music icon.
Does Thom look keut as a newsie?
Do u think he gets respect from other newsies in the community, or is he invading their turf?
Do yall ever see 'newsboys' in our modern world, or have they just been replaced with vending machines and the internet?
Do ppl still sell newspapers in the middle of the road in ur local community?
Did Radiohead 'save the music industry' with their latest album, or are they just 'a part of the machine'?
Do u think Thom is ashamed of "King of Limbs"?
Why aren't the other band members selling newspapers? Are they 'ashamed' of the album?
"Open the BuzzBlogs and Seize the Meme!" -Christian Bale and Thom Yorke
Here is some 'high definition video footage' of Thom Yorke's surprise DJ set last week, or whenever that happened. I figured that he was 'supporting' the KING OF LIMBS album, but it seems like he is moving on with his own career and trying to distance himself from what a huge flop the King of Limbs was, and he is just moving on with his own career. He is releasing some MP3s with dubstep legends Burial and Four Tet, probably because he wants to be taken more seriously as a dubstep solo buzzband.
New Burial jam, taken from the A-side of his instantly sold-out forthcoming split 12″ with Thom Yorke + Four Tet, out this week on Four Tet’s TEXT label
Here is some song called "Ego" that is probably abt Eggo waffles or something
Here is one called "Mirror." Not sure if it is as good as MJ's "Man In the Mirror."
I am not really a dubstep music critic, so I can't tell if these songs are 'epic' or 'forgettable.' I feel like all darkwave dubstep 'sounds the same', so I can't really tell. It sounds all heavy and wobbly and drummy and bassy, but I don't know how 2 describe it 4 real.
Are these songs 'hella authentic'?
Is Thommy admitting that he h8s Radiohead + is ashamed of their last album?
Is KING OF LIMBS a critical + commerical flop?
Do u think he will be more dubstep famous than Burial/James Blake?
Do u think he is pissed that James Blake is the new 'king of dubstep'?
Will Thom's dubstep career get in the way of his relationship with Radiohead?
Is Radiohead hella irrelevant?
Oh Thommy...
Last night I heard a bunch of twitter buzz, so I ventured down to a relevant Los Angeles club where Thom Yorke was throwing down a relevant bleep bloop dubstep DJ set. Even though I don't even really like Radiohead, I covet the opportunity to experience a rare alt performance, so I HAD to go see Thom Yorke 'crush it' while he spun dubstep bleep bloop music.
According to At Ease, Yorke's set lasted an hour and 20 minutes and included tracks from Kraftwerk, Burial, Madvillain, Major Lazer, Squarepusher, and Modeselektor. Consequence of Sound also claims that Yorke "gave a shout-out" to the Notorious B.I.G. on the 14th anniversary of Biggie's death.
'Mad props to Biggie Smalls. I know ur in heaven smiling down. Watching us while we pray 4 u... Every day We pray 4 u. Until the day we meet again, in my heart is where I keep u, friend. Memories give me the strength I need to succeed, the strength I need 2 believe, Biggie.' -a white person trying 2 be black
Thom looks hella in2 it. This is probably him spinning Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missin U."
Here is video of Thom spinning that wah wah dub boom step. He dances around like the music is inside of his body.
Is Thom 'going solo'?
Did Radiohead buzz die rlly fast?
do u think he is upset that the Radiohead album 'flopped' so hard?
Can Thom Yorke become a relevant part of the DJ circuit?
Why are British ppl s00 obsessed with dubstep?
Does Thom need to write a chillwave album?
Should Thom tour the world as a DJ, make tons of money, and bang tons of bitches?
Would yall rather see an 'intelligent dubstep' dj set or a banger wave DJ set?
Here is a new music video for some Radiohead song called "Lotus Flower" off their new album "The King of Chopping off Limbs." It really sounds like any other radiohead song. Abstract rock n roll, 'deep' percussion, 'guitars coming from altered zones', Thom's voice whining like a sad lil man who wants more out of life. Not sure if we can say that Radiohead has 'evolved' as a band, but maybe their formula is just 'perfect' like Coca Cola, so they don't really have 2 innovate any more.
Anyways, it seems like Thom really 'wants the spotlight' in this video. He dances around alone, probably trying to prove that he did the most work on this album.
Not sure if I really vibe to the new slutwave Thom. It sorta reminds me of 'accidentally going gay' for 1 night or something, and you end up getting a really dark handjob. Just really negative unchill vibes for me, due to the Radiohead aesthetic + Thom.
Is Thom Yorke trying to be 'more progressive' than Win Butler?
Are 'critics' going to 'love' this album 'no matter what'?
Does Radiohead even have 2 try any more?
Does all of their music sound the same?
Is Radiohead for overground cool dads who want to 'feel like they are doing drugs without doing drugs'?
Should Radiohead give away their album 4 free?
Should Thom Yorke 'go solo' and ride slutwaves?
Gonna try to wear an accessory
that makes me look younger
that helps me appeal to a younger generation of bros
that helps me recapture an entry-level spirit.
My name is Thom
I've written some of the most important CD albums of the past 100 years
become a global visionary
environmental leader
and an internet marketing and music industry guru [via In_Rainbows]
But it's time for me to reach a new fan base
The young ppl
The down market alt tweens
I know I reached an entire generation of young druggies in the past
but the new crop doesn't know why they should enjoy me.
Me and my band, the Radioheads
Not sure if they even know what a 'radio' is

Just wearing a headband

Gettin my riff on
Might buy a headband + wristband combo pack

with my head brand

Does Thom Yorke look 'entry level' in a headband?
Do yall like the Radioheads?
IS he 'ripping off' Richard Tenenbaums?
Can Radiohead appeal 2 a new generation, or does every1 already like them?
Is Radiohead the #1 band in the world?
Is radiohead the #1 band of the 90s/2000s?
