Tracy Morgan
Tracy Morgan Was Never Really that Funny.

I just read some story about Tracey Morgan going on some homophobic rant during one of his standup routines. Basically, he said that he would murder his son if he turned out gay, because you 'learn how to be gay' from the media:

Following the performance by Mr. Morgan, the comedian and “30 Rock” co-star, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on June 3, an audience member named Kevin Rogers described the show in a Facebook post titled “Why I No Longer ‘Like’ Tracy Morgan – A Must Read.”

Mr. Rogers, who said in his post that he is gay, wrote that Mr. Morgan said “gay is a choice, and the reason he knows this is exactly because ‘God don’t make no mistakes’ (referring to God not making someone gay cause that would be a mistake).”

He went on to describe Mr. Morgan as saying that “gay was something kids learn from the media and programming” and if his son were gay and talked in a high-pitched voice, “he would pull out a knife and stab” him to death. Mr. Rogers said he saw other audience members walk out of the show but that he remained behind and watched it in its entirety.

I've never really been THAT into Tracy Morgan, so this controversial moment gives me the opportunity to 'throw him under the bus' while every one else is running over him, too.

I hope that this is 'the beginning of the end of his career' [via Michael Richards]. I've never really been that into Tracy Morgan. I don't really 'get' why he would completely buy into and shamelessly sell the gimmick of 'being a stereotypical African American male', which is probably why he thought it would be safe to play up the whole homophobia bit. Maybe this bit would have 'totally killed' if he wasn't playing to a white audience. (If you think this statement is true, you may or may not be a racist.)

Whenever I watch Tracy Morgan do a 'sensational bit', I just feel like I am laughing at a black person who is perpetuating African-American stereotypes. The parts of me that find it funny are the same parts of my brain that are 'afraid of an African American homeless person' or 'scared of a group of young, black males who are more physically imposing than me.' Tracy Morgan really knows how to tap into the conditioned racism of Americans.

"Remember that time he played a black homeless person on SNL? He was so K00KY that it was funnie!"

It seems like his general jokes are just structured as, "I am black, therefore [sensational claim/statement]." Maybe that is really how he processes the world, though. Does that mindset resonate with African Americans? Is this how non-blacks perceive blacks as experiencing the world?

He is the black man who crashed the white man's party. He does not feel like he belongs, and gains acceptance by embracing the sambo stereotype. I find this clip to be 'totally hilarious', but maybe I am just laughing at 'what I think a black male is supposed to be' because I am a racist.

Does Tracy Morgan function as a 'think piece' about the condition and the perception of the black male in America, or is he an aimless artist looking to be 'totally sensational'?

I'm not even really that 'politically correct' or post-'politically correct', but watching Tracey Morgan has always made me uncomfortable, particularly in the 30 Rock era of his career.

From what I understand, Tracy Morgan plays a fictional character named 'Tracy Jordan', who basically just acts like a sensationalized version of who we think Tracy Morgan is, except maybe that's who Tracy Morgan is, and there is no difference between Tracy Jordan and Tracy Morgan. Anyways, I feel like '30 Rock' is probably just the most upscale black-face-wave show ever created because of the way that they use Tracy Morgan as 'negro comedy relief'.

Who is Tracy Morgan? It seems like most comedians enter a 'meaningful phase' where they want to use their platform to shed some light on the human condition. Usually a comedian gets really meaningful when they are in their prime, and they have an HBO special that resonates with America. I'm not sure if Tracy Morgan really has that in him. He seems content to just perpetuate African-American stereotypes, even if

Tracy Morgan is wearing blackface even though he is already black.

In the corner of my eye
I see 'hilarious African American comedian' Tracy Morgan
From my fave Tina Fey TV show 'The 30 Office Mean Girls Rock'
Emmy Award Winning HULU series on the NBC Network

That dude is mad hilares
I laugh every time I see him on TV
and think to myself
'Why can't more black people be like that bro?'

Even though all black people are kinda like him
except they are 'being serious'
and are kinda annoying in a lower class kind of way
like dudes who get mad at u for not giving them money on the subway

Guess maybe he is 'the perfect African American comedian'
because he doesn't ruin white people's vibes by always talking about racial injustices
utilizing his platform to raise social awareness
instead, he is 'the ultimate African American'
acting 'black' so that we can laugh at black stereotypes which are funnie & true

'lol' -me watching Tracy Morgan

I'll bet I can go up to him
and take a picture of us
with my arm extended, myspace style
And I will get 'the ultimate facebook default pic'
proving to my extended SOCIAL NETWORK

In addition, Tracy Morgan will 'say something funny'
providing me with content that I can share with my friends
a 'funnie story'
proving that 'he is the exact same in real life
as he is on TV/the movies'
Sorta want to 'humanize' him in a famous way

Ultimate facebook default

in the shithole suburban environment where we grew up

Just want to reenact a modern slave-owner relationship with Tracy Morgan
utilizing the modern white bro comedy aesthetic

Do yall think Tracy Morgan is 'funny'?
Do u think bros who find Tracy Morgan to be 'funny' and 'zany' are racist?
Will Tracy Morgan ever be as 'funny' as Eddie Murphy / Chris Rock in their primes?
Do u think he is an 'authentic black person' or does he just exploit black stereotypes in a white person friendly way?
Do black ppl think that Tracy Morgan is funny because he is making fun of white ppl?
Have u ever taken a pic with a famous person?
Do u ever watch people on facebook who post 'self-pix' with famous ppl who are pissed that they are 'up in their grill'?
do u believe in 'honoring fame' or do u think all humans are the same?
Is 'taking a self-pic' with a famous person the new 'getting an autograph'?

Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks” goes mainstream in Volkswagen Super Bowl Ad
</embed>

The hit band Grizzly Bear's hit song "Two Weeks" features a piano jingle that was 'perfectly crafted' to be utilized in a powerful marketing campaign. Volkswagen purchased the rights to this hit song, trying to inspire mainstream middle america to buy Jettas instead of Toyotas and Hondas.

Tracy Morgan also makes this video 'more bloggable.' He seems to be giving a ride to popular blind piano man Stevie Wonder.

Is the Jetta now known as 'The Grizzly Bear Mobile'?

Did Grizzly Bear 'sell out' or are u happy that their music was taken 2 the extreme masses?
Were u able to 'fully appreciate' their song in this commercial?

Wonder if their ad 'came out better' than NFL's use of Arcade Fire's "Where the Wild Things Are" Theme Song.

Did u ever play 'punch buggy' with ur sibling?
Will Grizzly Bear outsell Vampire Weekend in 2k11?
Is this the 'best use of indie music in a mainstream commercial' in the history of commercials?
Does commercial licensing make a band 'more bank' than 'releasing full albums'?
R u enjoying the corporate indie arms race of the 2k10 decade?
