Young Folks
Listening to this song by the broad who sang on 'Young Folks.'

[MP3]
Taken by Trees Watch the Waves

I remember there was a girl who sang on the hit song 'Young Folks' by Peter Bjorn and John. Her name was "Victoria Bergsman" (had to google it). Damn. Can't believe that song was released a blog century ago. The mp3 I posted seem 'pleasant', like I'd put it on my iPod and listen to it while I was studying for my Psych 101 course or something. Or possibly just hear some free-spirited girl say that 'Taken By Trees is her favourite band', or some other far fetched statement like that. Mainly just posted it to talk about YOUNG FOLKS.

Damn. Young Folks. Where were u the first time u heard that song?

Where were u the first time that u got 'pissed' that 'mainstream culture' had found out about the indie gem by the Peter Bjorns and Jean?

Wonder if it is the 'best indie song of the last decade.' Seems important, like it organically gained steam before the 'backlash' occurred. Seems like 'every1 liked it'/'knew about it.' Seems like every1 thought it was meaningful for at least 1 nite.

Seems like Victoria Bergsman might have 'misplayed her career.' She should have tried to ride her viral indie fame to become 'the next Feist' or something, or possibly some1 like Karen O. It seems like she is just content 'settling' for being another conceptual broad, sorta like most of the women in the crowded 'poor man's Bjork' genre. Feel like Bat for Lashes might be in there, along with Kria Brekkan. h8 the genre of underwhelming music by broads that spacey alt female high schoolers identify with 4 no good reason.

Will there ever be another song like 'Young Folks', or will we just have to 'settle' for era-defining songs like 'My Girls'/'Two Weeks'/'Use Somebody'/'Beautiful Day'/'Semi-Charmed Life'/'D.A.N.C.E.'/'Lights and Music'/'Billie Jean'/'One Headlight'/'Free Birds'/'The Boy Is Mine'/'Waterfalls'?

“I’m okay” – a text message from me to my parents + closest friends

Yesterday, I was involved in a 'sillie situation.' I was in a plane, and it 'went down' to 'chill in the Hudson River.' I thought my life was going to be over, and I thought after 17 years of life on Earth, I was only going 2 be a news meme.

Two of my biggest fears in life include:

  • finding out my life was "just a meme"
  • dying in a plane crash

The plane went down. I closed my eyes, and turned on my iPod. I started listening 2 the song "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John to remind me of a time when 'everything was okay.' I was ready to leave the Earth.

I was calmed by the Scandinavian whistling as the plane shot towards God's Earth. Down... Downer... Whistling... Downest. Splash. Whistling.... Crash. Boom. Whistles. Calm.... [the lyrics to Young Folks].

The descent was similar to the popular Disney ride SPLASH MOUNTAIN. We chilled in the river and the old people who booked the emergency exit seats 'for more leg room' were unable to open the doors. I was anxious because I wasn't sitting near an exit and had 2 wait a long time 2 get out of the plane. Felt like I deserved to 'live' more than most of the other ppl on the plane.

We exited the plane in a chill fashion. The flight attendants gave us complimentary beverages and peanuts/pretzels for us to eat while we chilled on flotation devices/exit ramps. I also received a lifetime of free flights from US Airways to any where in the continental United States (I can no longer sue the airline upon receipt of this gift).

Immediately after the crash, I sent my parents a text message that said "I'm Okay." They are very familiar with this text message, because I have sent it to them after numerous international tragedies. It is important to let people know that you are "safe" after any sort of tragedy happens. Even if u don't live in the same city, it's just good 2 communicate.

Let the world know that you are okay [via text message], [via twitter], and [via facebook status message]. Be proud to be alive. Be proud to b part of a worldwide social network that travels faster than mainstream journalists. It's good 2 be alive, yall.

In the year 2k9, I renewed my lease on life. I will not 'off myself' in 2k9.
In 2k9, I will try to be 'a lil bit more gonzo.'

What should I be 4 Halloweend? (Part 10 of 365)

Should I be an ice cream head? Might be an ice cream sandwich to represent racial unity.

Should I be 'Spooky' Justice

Should I be 'the whistling song' about Young Folks? (this is a boy+girl costume if ur in an altCouple)

I guess I should trade in my WII/Super Nintendo/Sega Saturn/GameBoy for an XBOXZune360 thingy. Hopefully it comes preloaded with my favourite bloghaus bands.

"I'd give any thing 2 go back in time to when the world was simultaneously meaningfully listening 2 'Young Folks.' Things back then made a lot of sense. It was alright 2 just be urself."
