Has slutwave gone 'too far'?
</embed>

I remember when it was kinda funnie 2 joke abt all of the female singers who engaged in an armsrace in order to get the attention of the pop-osphere and win over Mainstream America by shedding their clothes, hump dancing, and singing abt having hot sex with men and women. "Slutwave" became the best way 2 describe the sexi contest and was even named genre of the Year by Rolling Stone Magazine [link]. Now we're used 2 seeing Lady Gaga's nipples on-the-reg and Rihanna 'going 4 it' in her latest music video. I know every generation is prob 'sluttier' and/or 'more desensitized' than its preceding generation, but I kinda wonder if modern slutwave has 'gone 2 far'/if we will ever just vibe out to conservativey women who empower us without getting naked and showing off their cha-chas.

Just watched this handicap girl 'go viral' 4 her hit rendition of the original song "My Vagina Ain't Handicap", in which she reminds males out there that even though she is disabled, she deserves 2 be lusted over like a piece of meat. Really feel uncomfortable. Not sharing this bc I think it is funny to watch a person with special needs beg for sex. Sorta just feeling 'dark', like this girl didn't really need to ride slutwaves in order 2 feel compelled 2 make this video/have a strong subconscious desire for dehumanizing sex.

Sorta feel like maybe it is time 2 move beyond themes of 'real life empowerment' via sexual empowerment 4 women.

If u had a daughter, would u let her listen 2 slutwave?
Who will be the next generation of female role models in music?
Do all females in music eventually have 2 go thru a 'sexual identity/liberation' phase?
Does slutwave 'keep going' bc blogs rely on photogallery hits from women with bangin bods?
Has 'slutwave' gone 2 far?
What is ur reaction 2 this girl's vagina not being handicap?

I just want 2 b happie.

Is Rebecca Black the next big tween sensation OR the next Final Placement?

As yall know, I am a huge fan of the following buzz topics:
a) tweens
b) tween stars
c) parents who enable their kids to become viral memes
d) cyberbullying
e) memes that expose the intellectual class/caste system on the internet.

The tween pop of Rebecca Black in her hit viral video "Friday" has really offered us a great opportunity to pull our head out of Justin Bieber's tween bum hole and think about what it means to be a tween pop sensation. Tween sensations are 4% human and 96% human memes gone wild. It's great to live in an era where we finally understand that no1 will be taken seriously, nor will they remain 'famous' 'forever' just because they were associated with something that won them widespread cultural notoriety. In fact, it is great to watch these super memes 'flame out', forced to re-evaluate their career + monetary decisions long after their [via the VH1 celeb reality theory]. Sorta wish we could go back in time and post-ironically consumer Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, and C. Thomas Howell in their meme primes.

The tweenosphere is one of the most interesting cultural spheres because the intellectual upperclass gets to witness horrible products/manufactured human beings being branded + marketed + sold to long tail tweens who would trade anything for a taste of 'fame' a.k.a. virality. I sorta wonder if watching all of these tweens broadcast their feelings on twitter, their vlogs on youtube, and their self-pix on dailybooth provide the ultimate 'birth control.' The fear of bringing a brain dead, lamestreamer, consumer-wave tween into this world, and sort of having to 'let them consume tween products' so that they can fit in at school. Just because our parents did it for us doesn't mean we have to extend the courtesy to our spawn.

I sort of wish I could be a rich parent with 3-5 kids, and enable my beautiful daughter to become a tween pop star. She will sing along to pop songs in the car, and I will take her to a regional talent scout + music + video producer. They will tell me if I pay them $5k-10k, they will produce a video that will showcase my daughter's talents, and give Disney and Nickelodeon scouts a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to see that my daughter has the talent, willingness, and drive to become the next big tween sensation.

I wish I had birthed Rebecca Black and let her know that she could accomplish anything, whether it was 'becoming a singer', 'becoming a viral meme', or 'getting a tween Disney contract.'

Do yall <3 Becca Black?

Sorta have a crush on her now...

Wish I could be one of her BFFs and cruise in a convertible with her...

She probably rlly knows how 2 partie...

I hope she can trust this African American thug rapper... Hopefully he has 'good vibes' to send like B.O.B. or Ludacris or another Uncle Tom-wave rapper who is friendly with the whites.

Sometimes I wish I could put myself in the shoes of a tween who sees that one of their videos has accumulated 1 million-10 million views on youtube. How do they rationalize it? How many hits make u famous? How many hits ensure that you will never be forgotten?

I remember when the hit buzzband Final Placement wrote a song and produced a music video that transcended both bro-rock, Christian rock, and the North Face fleece-wave genre. [link to original post]

It seems like this new band has totally 'transcended' the internet, creating a new model by which bands can reach a mass market of listeners. Maybe the goal needs 2 change from 'trying to make good music', but instead, making a laughable meme that appeals to millions of internet users.

Is Rebecca Black 'the new Final Placement'?
Or will she become a relevant tween pop star?
Do u think she looks 'ethnic enough' 2 appeal 2 Mexi markets?
If u were Disney/Nick would u offer her a mega-contract to capitalize on her memefied status, or has the meme only been consumed by the meme upperclass? (those who only consume memes from high-end content farms)
Do u think she is ashamed of her song, like she has been cyberbullied?
Or do u think that believes she has become a relevant tween sensation?

Is Final Placement still a better meme than Rebecca Black?
Did God create tweens as a way 2 say that the world is ending?
Have tweens 'gone too far'?
Are 'meme remixes' the sign of a 'beautiful/perfect meme'?

Are yall pumped abt Friday? What r u gonna do this weekend?

British Youtube Tween goes 'big in Japan' because she looks like an anime character

I just read some article about how a British tween has become a cultural sensation + icon in Japan. Apparently, she has a youtube channel where she dances around to Japanimation anime music. Due to her figure + body type, she closely resembles an anime character (wide face, big eyes, a thin bod, and a sweet, sweet rack of formative teen breasts).  Mixed with her dancing + youtubing talent, she has 'climbed to the top of the Japanese charts' since some1 found a way to monetize her.  Nothing more inspiring than a youtube tween sensation 'selling units' in foreign markets.

Here is basically the 'background info' on this lil broad:

A British schoolgirl is set to top the charts in Japan after her YouTube clips became an internet sensation.
Rebecca Flint - a 14-year-old who calls herself Beckii Cruel - releases her debut album today to much excitement in the land of the rising sun.
Her webpage is the second most subscribed by music fans in Japan and she has already performed live in Tokyo.
Rebecca, from the Isle of Man, first came to attention on YouTube where millions watched her dance to J-Pop (Japanese pop music) and the theme tunes of anime cartoons.

Feel free to watch one of her lil dance videos to 'get a better feel' on this tween.

</embed>

Maybe she is the Japanese version of Miley Cyrus / Hannah Montana, except she doesn't sext pictures of herself to bros. I have a feeling that this girl probably appeals to grown Japanese men, though.

Do u feel turned on by white girls who wish they were AZN / Japanese?  Or do you think men are programmed to be 'turned on' by girls ages 13-20 because those were their formative sexual years?

</embed>

Maybe it doesn't matter what culture ur a part of--all that really matters is the simple truth that 'sex sells.' As 'cute' of a story it is that UK tween became a big deal in Japan, maybe they are just into her because of the same reasons America got into Britt Spears 'back in the day.'

Basically, I think she appeals to Japanese people because this is their idea of 'the perfect woman.'

Wonder how easy it is to be 'big in Japan.'  It seems like an absurd place, where nothing makes sense.  In America, there are tons of creative agencies that can bring products to market because the hype system in the USA is pretty standard.  I wonder if it is the same way in Japan, or if it is 'totally random'?

I feel like the concept of being 'big in Japan' has sort of been branded as 'having an authentic niche of fans who appreciate your quirkiness on a level that the Western World could not.' Going to the Far East to find acceptance seems to have been around since after America dropped a couple of bombs on them.  Maybe it is some sort of 'white/yellow guilt' to seek their acceptance after we 'bombed them back to the stone age.'

I would guess that people in Japan aren't really into the 'relevant indie scene.' The things that they value as pillars of mainstream / alt culture aren't really what USA + UK + Canadian markets would value.  Wonder how/when our alternative paths diverged.

From what I understand, they are probably living in a different environment. A place where they have Toyotan cultural ideals of honor and fairness, but then use cartoons as a way to escape into a dream world.  Maybe they are seeking some sort of insane escapism to deal with the bomb drop less than 100 years ago.

Feel like I might not overthink our cultural divide, and just watch clips of Japanese game shows. I will 'laugh' at the disconnect between American culture and Japanese culture, but then maybe come to the conclusion that 'all humans are the same' because we just want to escape from 'the grind' of daily life.  We just want things 2 laugh at, things 2 distract us from how sad/trapped we might feel on the inside.

</embed>

Who gets more joy out of the human Tetris meme: the Japs or the Americans?

I wonder if Beckii Cruel will become an American sensation. Like she will perform with the Jonas Brothers / Justin Bieber. I think that if those bands want to break into Japanese markets, they should probably utilize her.

</embed>

Maybe Japanese people are into them because they want to be white. Lots of American whites are into black music because they 'want to be black', so maybe Beckii Cruel represents an ideal identity that they can obtain by consuming different media/art/goods.

Maybe Beckii Cruel is the new ternative.

Do yall think Beckii Cruel is 'fucking hot'?
Do u like her dance moves?
R u in2 'hentai' porn
Will Pitchfork review her new album?
What does it take to be 'big in Japan'?
Do you think Westerners who get into Eastern cultures probably had a hard time fitting in during middle + high school?
Would Japanese people 'get' AnCo?
Do u think Japanese people would find American culture to be 'fucking boring'/uninspired?

Is Owl City the 'buzzband' of 2k9? Will they top the Postal Service in most 'band of the decade' lists?
Have yall ever made an animated video with ur BFF?
Does Owl City music make u want to live in an entry-level utopia, where all entry-level alt ideals are 'actually authentic'?

does n e 1 know if hoodies will 'come back' in 2k10, or will they be a dormant relevant trend for the next ~5 years?

miss u Los Angeles, before the mexitweens overran u with electro.

I miss the innocence of my misguided alt teen past

Angry Ginger Vlogger responds to M.I.A., yells at her “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH U?”
</embed>

The defensive viral ginger vlogger who has become the unofficial spokesman of the Ginger People has 'lashed out' at M.I.A.'s "Born Free" music video, which features tons of gingers getting murdered and blown up [link]. Seems like he is mad pissed, like he is angry enough to murder M.I.A. Hope M.I.A. is safe from gingers at her upcoming concerts. Feel like they might stage violent protests against her, since she is one of the biggest anti-ginger leaders in the history of the world.

Feel bad for this bro, because he claimed he was 'into the Paper Planes song' but then M.I.A. pissed him off. Feel like M.I.A. might be 'isolating' a lot of her previous fans with her upcoming album, especially the gingers:

"What the fuck was that? Born Free? I'm disappointed in you--I like that Paper Planes song."

What the fuck was that? That wasn't even a music video?

What the hell?

I don't even know what the fuck you're getting at making videos like that, M.I.A.
I feel disgusted... That is madness...
I saw a little ginger boy get shot right in the head. RIGHT IN THE HEAD. RIGHT IN THE HEAD!
How is that video? I'm glad youtube took that off. I don't want that on youtube. That is horrible. That is discrimination, and that is not right.

Seems like an angry bro. Like he needs a girlfriend or something.

Should I plant a bunch of landmines at the Dublin Ohio Ginger Festival?
Do u think M.I.A. paid this bro to make this video [via Viral Marketing]?
Has this angry ginger 'already gone mainstream' after he was parodied in the ginger south park episode?

</embed>

Are you angry at M.I.A.?
Will the gingers stage a boycott of her album?
Will M.I.A. 'crossover' or is she isolating mainstream markets?
Do u feel like this ginger has a lot of rage in his heart?
Do u get scared of angry vlogs, like the person will jump out of the computer?

Awkward High Schooler Bros throw down ‘sick guitar jam’ cover of Deerhunter

</embed>

I am not sure what the deal with Deerhunter is. I don't really know any1 who says 'Deerhunter is my favourite band', but I guess they make decent albums and generate buzz on blog sites [via Bradford Cox]. Not sure if he should just 'focus on Atlas Sound' or possibly just focus on Deerhunter. Maybe Deerhunter will crossover if they write more songs that sound like the Killers.

N e ways, some group of high school bros threw down a rowdy alt cover of "Nothing Ever Happened", a song from several hundred blog years ago, but possibly one of Bradford Cox's best songs, except for the 1 he wrote with Panda Bear. Feel like these bros 'jam hard', like they took guitar lessons for a few years, then started 'figuring shit out on their own' and carving out a unique sound.

Do u think these high school bros will get a record deal from an indie label (with major label backing)?

Do u wish u could go back in time and throw down a 'bad ass jam' in ur high school talent show?
Sorta wish my parents invested more heavily in guitar lessons 4 me, plus tons of 'gear.' Feel like I would have been more alt at a younger age if I had the proper alt education, more access to regional buzzbands + a fully loaded vinyl collection + a laptop computer to google guitar tabs.

Will Bradford Cox ever write a commercially successful album, or will he continue to just be a 'blog darling'?
Were these kids better than 'the real Deerhunter'? Would they win Alt American Idol?

</embed>

Does Deerhunter 'sound like Sonic Youth' or is that just what mediocre journalists do when they feel like they 'have 2 make a comparison'?
Should these kids make their parents buy them more effects pedals to have a better 'vibe' / aural aesthetic?
Did you have a mainstream or alt youth?
How old are these lil indie distorted rockwave bros?

The Deerhunter are some buzzband that Bradford Cox is in but no1 really knows who the hell the other member bros are.

Some bitchy tween ‘goes viral’ 4 ‘making fun of hipsters’ [via vlog]
</embed>

From what I understand, tons of youtube tweens enjoy making vlogs where they provide relevant commentary on stuff like Twilight, Justin Bieber, mainstream buzzbands, and whatever is on TV on MTV/the Disney channel. It seems like the community of youtube tweens have discovered 'the art of hipster bashing'--the practice of pointing out the hypocrisies in the modern young, trendy, technological adult lifestyle. Not sure if her video is 'revolutionary', or if it is just like a new, tweenage voice spitting out the same ideas that 'every1 already realized 500 blog years ago.'

Are yall 'sooo over' hipster bashing?
Should I start a blog that tracks tween hipster bashing?

Seems like this tween has 'knowledge beyond her years', like she has been reading snark blogs since 'the beginning of the internet.' Feel like she has tons of messages that can teach us not to 'be so consumerist', not to be a slave to trends, and why we shouldn't give up on bands. Do u think that even though she is younger than u, u can still learn a lot from her?

Do u think she is 'hot'? Do u think she should 'shut her mouth' and just keep being a slave 2 technology & trends?
wtf is a 'hipster'?
Do u appreciate her tone, or does she need a solid set of parents/alt role models to 'put her in her place'?
Was 'hipster bashing' only a solid meme in 2k6?
Are tweens taking over the internet/ hipster culture?
Do u wish u knew how to vlog / had a macbook / knew how to 'make fun of subcultures' when u were 11 years old?
Are hipsters 'effing hypocrites'?
Is this tween a 'wanna be hipster'?
Do u think she 'gets' AnCo, or does she just listen to Justin Bieber and not have the 'balls' to go into an Am Appy?
